Bring the dramatic verticality and stone elegance of Prague Gothic architecture into your home as a sculptural design object. This luxurious, hand-tufted rug, made from high-quality New Zealand wool, interprets Gothic cathedral architecture, vaulted ribs, and medieval tracery forms in a strictly abstracted, contemporary visual language. The dense, pleasantly soft pile and the reduced palette of stone, coal, and bone tones give the rug a powerful, architectural presence.

Four to six wide ribs rise from a low-lying center and fan out towards the upper corners of the rug. Between them, elongated pointed arch fields and dark, shadow-like negative spaces emerge, reminiscent of an abstracted Gothic stone vault. In the upper left area, only a cut-off section of a monumental rose window structure appears, making it seem more like an architectural fragment than a decorative church motif. Three sparsely used, elongated triangular shapes reference Prague's Gothic towers and spires. Coal, Slate, Weathered Stone Grey, Warm Bone, and Oxidized Copper Green create a severe, luxurious, and deliberately European-austere color effect.

Design Inspiration Prague Gothic Vault:

The design is inspired by Prague's Gothic architecture, cathedral vaults, and medieval tracery. Instead of depicting a church or a specific building, the design reduces the architecture to its constructive principles: rising ribs, pointed arches, deep shadow zones, rose window tracery, and crystalline stone fields. The visual complexity is deliberately created through pile heights and relief rather than many colors or small-scale ornamentation. This results in a modern collector's rug that bridges sacred architecture, sculptural surface, and contemporary interior design.

Key Features:

Premium Quality: Hand-tufted from high-quality New Zealand wool for a dense, soft, and durable pile with a luxurious feel.

Exclusive Idekron Design: This design was developed exclusively by Idekron and is only available from Idekron.

Prague as a Design Motif: Abstracted vaulted ribs, pointed arch fields, a cut-off rose window, and a few tower-like triangular accents combine to create a contemporary interpretation of Prague Gothic.

Reduced Color Palette: Coal, Slate, Weathered Stone Grey, Warm Bone, and Oxidized Copper Green create a dramatic, stony, and sophisticated modern effect.

Complex Pile Treatment: Deeply cut main ribs, alternating high and low areas, beveled radial segments, and fine chisel-like grooves create a highly dimensional, sculptural surface.

Versatile Styling: Ideal as a distinctive statement piece in modern, minimalist, brutalist, gallery-style, or architecturally oriented interiors.

Ideal for:

Living Rooms • Bedrooms • Offices / Studies • Reception & Lounge Areas • Design Hotels • Gallery-style & Modern European Interiors

Care Instructions:

Vacuum regularly with a pure suction setting and without a rotating brush. Due to the pronounced relief structure, extra care should be taken when vacuuming over the hand-cut and higher-pile areas. Blot spills immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth; do not rub. Spot clean stains with a mild detergent suitable for wool carpets. Professional carpet cleaning is recommended for thorough cleaning. A rug pad is recommended to reduce slipping and extend the life of the rug.

Important note on colors:

Due to different screen settings, color calibrations, and lighting conditions, the actual color tones may vary slightly from the display on the screen. As wool is a natural material and each rug is handmade, slight differences in pile, structure, and color effect are natural characteristics and emphasize the individual character of each piece.
