The motif consists of about twelve to fourteen irregular, island-like areas interspersed with broad, meandering bands of water. Instead of depicting a realistic city map, it creates a free cartographic interpretation of Stockholm's archipelago. A single, highly simplified archipelago ferry in the lower half of the image and a reduced bridge between two islands form the semi-abstract focal points. Soft water blue, muted fjord blue, sage and moss green, warm sand beige, and anthracite give the rug a calm Scandinavian appeal.
