Bring the mysterious precision of the Prague Astronomical Clock into your home as a sophisticated design object. This luxurious, hand-tufted rug made from high-quality New Zealand wool translates the medieval celestial mechanics of the Orloj into an intellectual, dramatic, and yet contemporarily classic composition. The dense, pleasantly soft pile and the finely tuned combination of warm parchment, metallic tones, and dark accent colors make it an exceptional eye-catcher for living rooms, bedrooms, offices, or prestigious reception areas.

A large celestial circle, deliberately offset from the center, occupies approximately 55–60 percent of the rug's surface. Overlapping concentric arcs, broken orbits, radial divisions, and crescent-like overlaps evoke the astronomical and calendar dials of the Orloj, without creating a literal clock representation. A fragmented ring zone with rectangular markings, dots, and short radial bars picks up on the idea of a zodiac or hour ring. Beneath the main composition lies a very subtle, tone-on-tone Gothic tracery, while about a quarter of the surface remains deliberately calm. Warm Parchment, Antique Brass/Gold, Oxidized Teal, Deep Midnight Navy, Brick Oxblood, and Charcoal give the rug a cultivated, architectural depth.

Design Inspiration Prague Orloj Celestial:

The design is inspired by the Prague Astronomical Clock in the Old Town Hall. Its complex astronomical and calendar dials are not copied as a historical dial, but rather reduced to their visual logic: circles, orbits, radial axes, markings, and superimposed celestial fields. The subtle Gothic tracery structure in the background refers to the architecture of Prague's Old Town and combines medieval forms with modern geometric abstraction. This creates a rug that balances scientific precision, European history, and contemporary interior design – dramatic, luxurious, yet calm enough for sophisticated living spaces.

Key Features:

Premium Quality: Hand-tufted from high-quality New Zealand wool for a dense, soft, and pleasantly comfortable pile.

Exclusive Idekron Design: This design was exclusively developed by Idekron and is only available from Idekron.

Prague as a Design Motif: Astronomical orbits, fragmented ring markings, and subtle Gothic tracery combine to create a modern interpretation of the Prague Orloj.

Harmonious Color Palette: Warm Parchment, Antique Brass/Gold, Oxidized Teal, Deep Midnight Navy, Brick Oxblood, and Charcoal create an elegant, historic, yet contemporary effect.

Craftsmanship: Clear tufting zones, medium-dense pile, line widths of at least approx. 10–12 mm, and subtle carving along the two most important orbital rings ensure a high-quality and well-manufacturable textile surface.

Versatile Styling: Ideal as a characterful statement piece in modern, classic, gallery-style, architecturally oriented, or contemporary European living concepts.

Ideal for:

Living rooms • Bedrooms • Offices / Studies • Reception and lounge areas • City apartments • Modern & classic European interiors

Care Instructions:

Vacuum regularly with a pure suction setting and without a rotating brush. Blot spilled liquids immediately with a clean, absorbent cloth; do not rub. Spot-treat stains with a mild detergent suitable for wool rugs. For thorough cleaning, professional rug cleaning is recommended. A rug pad is recommended to reduce slipping and extend the life of the rug.

Important Note on Colors:

Due to different screen settings, color calibrations, and lighting conditions, the actual shades may vary slightly from the display on the screen. As wool is a natural material and each rug is handmade, slight differences in pile, texture, and color effect are natural characteristics and underscore the individual character of each piece.
